Call for papers
The SpeD 2027 Organizing Committee warmly invites you to attend the 14th Conference on Speech Technology and Human–Computer Dialogue. The conference will take place between 14 and 16 October 2027 in Târgu Mureș, Romania.
The conference will bring together scientists, developers, and professionals to present their work, meet colleagues, discuss new ideas, and build collaboration between university, research centres, and commercial research groups. The technical programme will include oral sessions, keynotes by renowned speakers, and demonstrations of the latest research across a wide range of topics at the forefront of speech science and engineering.
Previous SpeD proceedings appeared in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library and are indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science (WoS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI).
Accepted SpeD 2027 papers will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore, subject to meeting its scope and quality requirements (including the no-show policy), and for indexing in Web of Science (WoS). IEEE and EURASIP technical co-sponsorship is pending approval.

Before the portal opens
SpeD follows the IEEE paper formatting guidelines. Use the IEEE author guidelines and the IEEE Author Ethics Guidelines when preparing your manuscript.
Papers for the SpeD 2027 proceedings should have 5 or 6 pages including references and be submitted in PDF format only through the online submission system. Papers are checked for plagiarism; papers with significant overlap with the authors’ own work or other papers will be rejected.
Peer review process
All submitted papers undergo a rigorous review and evaluation process to ensure high scientific quality, technical accuracy, and relevance to the conference topics.
-
Initial screening
Each submission is first checked for compliance with the conference submission guidelines, including formatting, length, and topic relevance. Papers are also verified for originality using plagiarism detection software. Submissions that do not meet these basic requirements may be returned to authors for correction or rejected prior to peer review.
-
Review assignment
Papers that pass the initial screening are assigned by the TPC Chair to reviewers based on their areas of expertise and the topic selected by the authors during submission. Each paper is reviewed by at least three qualified reviewers, ensuring a balanced evaluation from both senior and junior researchers. Conflicts of interest are strictly avoided.
-
Peer review
SpeD follows a single-anonymous review policy, where the reviewers remain anonymous to the authors. Reviewers assess each paper according to the following main criteria:
- Relevance and significance to the conference topics;
- Novelty and originality of the proposed ideas or approaches;
- Technical quality and soundness of the methodology and results;
- Clarity and quality of presentation, including English language use;
- Adequate referencing of prior work;
- Experimental validation or theoretical justification, as appropriate for the paper type.
-
Decision process
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Technical Program Chair and General Chairs make the final acceptance decisions. All authors receive detailed feedback from reviewers to support future improvements.
-
Publication and presentation
Accepted papers must be presented at the conference by one of the authors to be included in the SpeD Proceedings and submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library.
After acceptance
- At least one author of each accepted paper must register at the regular or student rate. One registration covers up to four papers.
- The paper must be presented at the conference live by one of the authors.
- All accepted papers must have an IEEE Electronic Copyright form submitted before the manuscript can be included in the conference proceedings. Authors are required to submit the form during the submission of the final version of the paper.
Paper presentation
Oral presentations
The session room will be equipped with a video projector, microphone, and laser pointer. A PC will be available to download your presentation. Oral presentations consist of 15 minutes for the problem, background, approach, results, and comparative evaluation, plus 5 minutes for discussion with the attendees.
Prepare a PowerPoint or PDF file. Additional illustrations may be useful for answering questions. Use large fonts (a minimum of 18–20 points) so the slides can be read without effort.
No-show policy
No-show papers are defined as papers submitted by authors who subsequently did not perform the live presentation of the paper in the conference sessions. Presentations by proxies are not allowed, unless explicitly approved before the conference by the technical co-chairs.
No-shows will not be available on IEEE Xplore or other public access IEEE forums. No refund of the paid fees can be claimed by the no-show author. Exceptions to this policy will be made by the Technical Program Chair of the conference only if there is evidence that the no-show occurred because of unanticipated events beyond the control of the authors, and every option available to the authors to present the paper was exhausted.
Remote presentation
Participants unable to attend in person due to exceptional and justified circumstances (such as health reasons or travel issues) may request additional information from the organizing committee. Remote presentation is allowed only with special permission and in justified cases.
